📚 SET Rating Course Overview
The SET rating course covers all the required elements to meet UK CAA and EASA standards, including:
✏️ Ground School
- Turbine engine operation and performance
- Aircraft systems (fuel, electrical, pressurisation, autopilot, avionics)
- Handling high-performance aircraft
- Weight & balance, performance planning, and limitations
- Emergency procedures and abnormal scenarios
- SOPs and operational best practice
Delivered in-house with experienced instructors and supporting materials.
🛫 Flight Training (Minimum 10 Hours)
Conducted in the Piper M600, flight training includes:
- Normal and abnormal procedures
- Engine handling and start-up
- High-speed cruise and descent profiles
- Precision flying and automation management
- Emergency procedures (including engine flameout, electrical failure, etc.)
More flight hours may be recommended based on prior experience and currency.
🧑✈️ Entry Requirements
To begin SET training, you must hold:
- A valid PPL(A), CPL(A), or ATPL(A)
- A valid SEP or MEP class rating
- Instrument Rating (IR)
- Medical certificate (Class 2 or Class 1 depending on use)
- HPA Theoretical Exam (this can be provided as part of this course if required)

🧪 Skill Test & Certification
Upon completion, you’ll take a Skill Test with a UK CAA approved examiner. Successful candidates will have the SET rating endorsed on their licence, authorising them to fly aircraft such as the M600 under single-pilot rules.
